![]() When WCW introduced bouncing babyface Marcus Alexander Bagwell to the masses in the early 90's, they sold him as the most promising rookie in the history of the fed. Unfortunately, two factors disqualified the youngster from this honor: 1) he wasn't very good, and 2) he wasn't a rookie. You see, Bagwell had been working in the sport in small independents for several months before landing a relatively high-profile position with upstart promotion Global Wrestling, which, at the time, had a TV deal with media giant ESPN and a roster featuring Scott Levy, Mick Foley, and Sean Waltman. Bagwell's persona? The Handsome Stranger, a, well, handsome stranger who came to the ring in a Don Juan Demarco facemask, clutching a rose, which he would present to a lucky lady in the front row before his matches. Stranger was-you guessed it- a bouncing babyface with a great look but very little actual talent, which led a lot of people to wonder how he ended up in the then-well-respected WCW instead of the Sports Entertainment world of the WWF. Of course, now that his ego is approximately the size of Akeem the African Dream and WCW constantly tries to counteract this fact by jobbing him on television to the likes of Ernest Miller and Alex Wright, it's probably only a matter of time before he is a part of the Sports Entertainment world of the WWF. or are believed to be public domain.
