What makes an indy promotion a success? If it's strictly a matter of financial gains and visibility, then California's OMEGA Wrestling probably isn't on anyone's top five list.
However, if the success of an indy is measured in the number of stars it produces, OMEGA may well be the top fed in the country. Among it's alumni are the WWF's Matt and Jeff Hardy, then known as
Surge and Wolverine, respectively; ECW's CW Anderson and the Dupp Brothers; WCW's Shane Helms and Shannon Moore, then the Serial Thrillaz; and several other WWF stars, including Joey Abs ("Venum"), and
developmental prospect (and Heroes of Wrestling star) Julio Fantastico. And then there was Willow the Whisp. While Wolverine Jeff Hardy was a top face in the fed, and Willow one of its' top heels, the two
stars never had a match against each other. In fact, more often than not, the two never even appeared on the same card, as one or the other would be deemed too injured to compete by the OMEGA brass. Suspicious, eh?
Well, like Peter Parker and Spiderman, there was a good reason the two were never seen in the same place at the same time. Yes, you guessed it, Jeff Hardy was not only the virtuous babyface Wolverine, but also the rudo Willow.
As if the gloves didn't give it away.
